Visualising Digital Teaching and Learning

By working with Tablet Academy, we are building the use of technology into our students’ daily learning experience. It is our belief that with a careful and considered implementation plan, we will transform the learning experience of students.

We are doing so by using the four stages of the SAMR model.

  • Substitute: Technology directly substitutes aspects of traditional methods without fundamentally changing them but provides an enhanced experience.

  • Augment: Technology is still primarily a substitute for traditional methods; but now further offers opportunities to enhance classroom practices

  • Modify: Technology is now further used to design and deliver kinetic, responsive tasks that would not be available in the traditional classroom.

  • Replace: The most advanced stage of delivery. Technology enables delivery and outcomes in ways that had previously not been conceived.

Initially our work will deal with enhancing the curriculum experience. For example, in science, our teachers can use online low stakes quizzing to get real time information into the prior knowledge of all students. This enables them to adapt curriculum delivery to consider students’ strengths and weakness more effectively.
