Summer Activity Week 2021
A five-day summer activity week was offered to all incoming Year 7 students (155 in total), from Monday 26th-Friday 30th July 2021. All students were encouraged to come by invite and during their transition meetings with the Headteacher, this included PP and SEN students.
The summer activity aimed to support students with the transition from primary to secondary school, and to aid educational recovery following COVID-19, both academically and in terms of wellbeing.
The week comprised of activities in English, Maths, Science, RE, Languages, Music, PE, Textiles, Art and Food Technology. Alongside this academic curriculum students participated in transition activities which focused on getting to know each other, the school grounds, meeting staff. There were also team building activities to help build trust and friendships within the year group and improve communication skills. Break and lunch were provided and eaten by all students and staff, together, each day. Activities were led by teachers and supported by Sixth Form students and a team of Support Staff and Senior Leaders.
