SCHOOL ALLOCATIONS AND APPEALS FOR SEPTEMBER 2023 ENTRY

Parents will be able to access their child's school allocation through their relevant Local Authority portal on Wednesday 1st March 2023.

If your child has not been offered a place in their preferred grammar school which you have named on the Common Application Form (CAF), you may appeal by using the online appeals form. Applications for appeals must be made by Friday 31st March 2023 and timely appeals will be heard by the Independent Appeals Panel In April, May and June 2023.

11+ Test provider for 2023 test (2024 entry to Year 7)

CEM, the current 11+ test provider for the Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools, has given notice that it will no longer be offering paper-based tests, but will only be providing online testing.

The number of candidates sitting the Slough Consortium test makes an online test impractical, and alternative testing arrangements will therefore be put in place for the September 2023 test.

The four grammar schools in the Slough Consortium are currently in discussion to agree the format and provider of the 2023 test, and further information will be made available on the school websites when these arrangements are confirmed.  No further comment will be made until then.

Please note that Slough Consortium does not support or promote tutoring for the 11+ examination – regardless of provider – as the test outcomes should be an indicator of the child’s natural academic ability and their potential to benefit from the kind of academic education provided in the grammar schools.

Results for the 11+ examination held in September 2022 for 2023 Entry

The results for the 11+ examination for the Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools will be available from 4pm on Friday 14th October.

Please log on to the portal to view your child’s 11+ result:

Please use the email and password you set when registering your child for the examination.

To see the result – please click on ‘update’ under the test results icon.

If your child scores 111 or above in the test, they will be eligible to be considered for a place at any of the Slough Consortium grammar schools that you name on your Common Application Form.

Please note that the 11+ results do not in any way mean your child is being offered a grammar school place.

There will be far more eligible applicants than there are places available, so schools will apply their oversubscription criteria to decide how the places are offered. If you have questions about any particular school’s admissions arrangements, please contact that school’s admissions officer directly.

You must complete your Common Application Form by 31st October, listing the schools to which you wish to apply in your genuine order of preference. If a school requires an additional supplementary information form to be completed to help them decide on how to allocate places, this must be submitted to the school concerned by 31st October. Returning a supplementary form is simply providing the school with further required information – it does not guarantee that you will be offered a place.

You will be able to find out which school your child has been allocated on 1st March 2023.

11+ examination arrangements for September 2023 entry

Boys and girls are eligible to be considered for admissions to St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School in Year 7 if they meet the required standard in the Slough Consortium 11+ examination. The 11+ entrance examinations are designed to identify pupils with the ability and aptitude for a grammar school education.

The 11+ test will be held on Saturday 17th September 2022, and you will be able to register your child for the test from Monday 2nd May 2022 until Sunday 12th June 2022 at 12:00 midnight.

Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools

September 2023 Entry

The Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools consists of Herschel Grammar School, Langley Grammar School, St Bernard’s Catholic Grammar School and Upton Court Grammar School.

We operate a shared 11+ entrance examination process using the same examination papers and common eligibility criteria. The 11+ examination for entry in September 2023 will be held on Saturday 17 September 2022.

During this event we will explain the Slough Consortium 11+ entrance examination process in detail. This event is for parents only. It is not suitable for children, and it does not provide school specific details. It is purely to help you as parents to understand the 11+ registration and testing process, and will last for a maximum of one hour.

The event will be held online using Zoom and you must book a place using the EventBrite link below. The first part will be a live presentation by John Constable, Headteacher of Langley Grammar School on the 11+ process. This will be followed by a question and answer session via the chat function with the Headteachers of all four grammar schools.

Following the event a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ document will be produced and posted on the schools’ website.
